屬級：Genus Phelotrupes Jekel, 1866 雪隱金龜屬

體長約13-25mm。體色呈霧面黑色，身形圓隆，並於眼緣周圍、身體腹面及各足部密生黑色細毛，但細毛容易脫落。頭部中央有一個小型角狀突起，觸角黑色，大顎明顯且內側密生黃褐色短毛。小楯片明顯，翅鞘具多條由淺刻點縱向排列而成的不明顯縱紋。前足脛節由雌性較雄性來得寬，均有3個較明顯的外緣齒，雄性之前足脛節外緣齒末端較圓鈍，且略為下垂；雌性之前足脛節外緣齒扁平且尖銳。

生態習性：成蟲春至秋季於野外活動，白天喜於林間低空飛行，趨近雜食動物排遺及腐屍，成蟲會於食物資源下方挖掘地道以便休憩或繁殖。
分佈：台灣、中國(福建、江蘇、浙江)；台灣廣泛分佈全島中、高海拔山區。
